Stencil1 had the honor of being invited by Levi’s to customize clothing in their busy Soho, NY shop for PRIDE. While we have now had several events with Levi’s in the past, it had been 2 years since our last event due to Covid, so nice to be back! Here’s a recap of the event!

Myself and the Stencil1 crew consisting of Abina and Charles came ready to customize! We offered about 12 different Pride themed stencil1 designs and we were also of course wearing Levi’s that we customized.

All paint was supplied by Pebeo. Pebeo is a French company that is over 100 years old and they make the best fabric paint I have ever used. I trusted their paint for this event!

Levi’s invited some fabulous queer micro-influencers and they were all super sweet and appreciative and got very into the collaborative process we offer. Choosing placement, color, etc… we let them be a part of the design process. Other people who attended went for minimal embellishments such as a butterfly or a heart.

I created this reel that captured the Summer Party vibe. Two DJs played all the Summer uplifting anthems so the day felt more like a party.

Levi’s curated this event to feel more like a party, rather than a shopping experience. Thank you Levi’s, it was a blast! HAPPY PRIDE!

For this year’s Pride mural that Ed Roth does each year for Chalk Gyms, he decided to make a chalk mural of an icon and hero of the gay liberation movement-Marsha P. Johnson.

Marsha P. Johnson, a black transgender woman, stood at the center of New York City’s gay liberation movement for nearly 25 years. But LGBTQ rights weren’t her only cause. She was on the front lines of protests against oppressive policing. She helped found one of the country’s first safe spaces for transgender and homeless youth. And she advocated tirelessly on behalf of sex workers, prisoners and people with HIV/AIDS. All while draped in dashing outfits and flower headpieces and armed, people who knew her say, with a vibrant smile.

It all started with a stencil design and colorful illustration to work from…

Then we chalked it on the chalkboard walls using colorful Crayola chalk.

Great artistry help from Charles.

And then it’s done.

And posted to our reels on instagram @stencil1

And what’s the P for?

Marsha PAY IT NO MIND Johnson
Happy Pride! Remember, the Pride march started as a riot and never take our rights for granted!

Next week, Ed Roth of Stencil1 will be a guest of the entrepreneur and small business conference, Meta Boost Gather, in Washington, DC.

Earlier this year Ed was invited to become a member of Meta’s New York Leaders Network, which supports small companies like Stencil1 to amplify and build their businesses. With the rapid growth of e-commerce and the pandemic, Stencil1 has had to continually pivot its focus between design, sales, social media and events.

More than ever it’s important that Ed and Stencil1 be in conversation with other independent businesses and Leaders Network helps keep Stencil1 in that dialogue. In the almost 20 years since Stencil1’s inception, Ed continues to reinvent his business while juggling the dual roles of being an artist and business owner in an ever-changing economic climate.

Meta Boost Gather is a two-day conference and will cover the ins and outs of running an independent business. Ed will share his findings through his channels on Facebook and Instagram.

Of Leaders Network and Meta Boost Gather, Ed says, “I am very honored to be a part of Leaders Network. Facebook and Instagram have been an essential tool in growing my business and I look forward to learning more and meeting other small business owners.”
