A few days ago Mat Sanders of Apartment Therapy came by and shot my place from their House Tours. I love to nest, I like design, and I want visually pleasing things around me so this was a very flattering experience. I work from my space unless I am painting, then i go to my studio so when someone comes over, i hope my cabin fever doesn’t show to much. I made Mat and I lunch and by “made” i mean bought a quiche at the farmers market and made a salad. i was afraid he might not be into my dog Larry but he loved him and wanted him in some shots(I was stage mom trying to get Larry to look his best). Well, he informally interviewed me, took a ton of photos, and I filled out a funny questionnaire, enjoy that! You can see it all in the link below. Thanks Apartment Therapy!

It’s always nice to get press but it’s really great when you get to be in such a well put together DIY magazine like Do It Yourself by Better Homes & Gardens. The Winter 2010 issue is out now and the editors have packed this issue with some very impressive and affordable home-makeovers. See that back wall in the cover image? That’s one of the 10 stencil patterns from Stencil 101 Decor. I counted 7 pages in which Stencil1 stenciled items appear so check it out to see stenciled tables, walls, and artwork!
Recently, Martha Stewart used her great line of glitter with my stencils to make some glittery t-shirts for kids.
You can see the instructions on how to do this on Martha Stewart.com and the video how-to as well, watch it! It is always an honor when the Queen of Craft uses Stencil1, Hail Martha and her amazing team!
I was interviewed by Tami Mnoian for Print magazine’s blog Imprint. I was never asked all these questions! So give it a read to see what I’ve been up to!

The new February/March issue of ReadyMade does not disappoint. No, not because they wrote up our new book Stencil 101 Decor, well not only because of that! The issue seems to have a lot of super thought-out diy graphics this issue, totally pulling me in to each article. The table of contents has these great handmade looking wood numbers for the page reference, there are great articles on the Ace Hotel(where I currently do art for rooms!), a great pancake article(yum!), and a guide to escapism, what we all need in the winter! I don’t know, you’ll see, there is a difference, an effort in this issue. So ReadyMade declares Stencils are back and I declare ReadyMade is back, fantastic issue!

In December, I made an appearance on Home with Lisa Quinn to show some unique ways to use Stencil 101 Decor stencils. Here’s a link to the video, hope you like it!
If you are in the Bay Area, tune into View from the Bay at 3pm today on Channel 7 ABC News. I was honored to tape a segment with energetic host Lisa Quinn in her stunning home. I showed Lisa how to make t-shirts and more using the stencils from our book. Not in the Bay area? Well, they also stream the show live on their website here. Hope you like it!

The NEW September issue of Country Living is a must-have and not just because it features Stencil1(page 110!). This issue shows so many affordable makeovers done in such a modern yet country eclectic way, I was honored to be a part of it. The magazine features our ever-popular birch tree stencil done tastefully on a simple white canvas pillow. I do have to add, you will want to use our non-aerosol fabric paints, the Stencil1 Sprayers, and these can be sprayed on or just open the bottle for more control with a foam brush or stencil bristle brush. Well, go check it out on news stands, it is a packed issue!
Talk about a tasteful use of our sparrow stencil! Krista Watterworth Alterman did a beautiful nursery design that was featured in Pregnancy Magazine. I love the colors, the repeat pattern, so subtle and calming! Thank you Krista!
Hey there! I’ve been a busy little b..working on my first fifty giveaways for the Petaluma Craft Mafia Holiday Craftacular..and, of course, I had to use the deer from the new Stencil 101 book! The size is perfect for tags and cards and papercrafty things.
I just painted some manila tags white with acrylic paint, stenciled over the top with the deer in a burnt sienna color..and sprayed the back with the Red Stencil 1 Spray. It looks fantastic over acrylic paints..I’ll be back to post more Holiday ideas using the Stencil 101 images!!- Elaine

So I’m plopped on the couch the other nite, watching one of my favorite shows, SYTYCD, and suddenly dancer Gev busts out a full breakdance solo donning a Stencil1 made t-shirt! The stylist of the show did an awesome job, using out turntable, boombox, and headphones in bright neon colors on a grey shirt.
Thanks to the stylists!
Amy Sedaris took part in the BUST Craftacular and I was there to stick my fat head in this picture and get her book I Like You autographed. I told her about Stencil1 and she checked out the stencils and said she liked the Pine Branch. I pegged her for more of the retro stuff, who knew. Anyway, she looked hot and was being insane and funny. And her book is genius, quite the bang for your buck. Yay.

Costume designer Susan Matheson used Stencil1 stencils to make some stand-out shirts in the new film The Kingdom. Pictured here are some stills she sent me of child actor T.J Burnett in a Ranchero Tee with Jamie Foxx .
