When a brand decides to have a voice for simple betterment of mankind, our ears are open. Lululemon has recently created some compelling campaigns that personally resonate with me.  Their recent men’s line campaign explores views that challenge stereotypical standards of masculinity. Another past campaign, “This is Yoga”  highlights artists, musicians, and athletes in documentary-style videos, and the message is that their skill is their yoga. I firmly believe that as well, the thing that you love doing that makes you lose track of time is essential and it IS your yoga. I say art is my meditation. I hope you take time to lose yourself in your creativity.

Lululemon provided me some wonderful gear and we will be doing a few posts about customizing these items. To start, I stenciled a yoga mat and put a nice reminder, the word INTENTION on my mat to remember to set an intention for the day as well as for my exercise. An example I may say as I sit on the mat is “my intention for today is to feel content with what I have. My intention for my exercise is to release any tightness.” So it’s a balance of mind and physicality.

Here’s how we customized the mat:

Gather your supplies. We created a custom 24-in stencil that says “INTENTION” so it read large across the yoga mat and placed it along the edge.

Using black paint, load your brush and wipe off any excess paint to prevent any bleeding. Paint over the open spaces of the stencil.

We are using black paint on a black mat. It gives our design a subtle touch, a gentle reminder.

Once you’re done, carefully remove the stencil and allow the paint to dry.

Get your kids back-to-school ready with custom denim jackets that compliments their style and personality! With these denim jackets, your kids are guaranteed to be the coolest kids in school. Trust me, they’ll thank you later.

Start prepping your jacket by adding a piece of cardboard inside the jacket. This will prevent any paint from bleeding through the jacket.

Using an adhesive spray, lightly spray the back of the stencil of your choice and place it on the jacket. Adhesive spray will help the stencil adhere to the jacket while you paint and prevent it from moving around. This is especially helpful when painting with more detailed stencils. The stencil we are using here is the Stencil1 Headphones stencil.

Grab your paint brush and load it up with paint. Here, we used a bold orange color to compliment the dark blue denim. Be sure to wipe any excess paint off the brush onto a paper towel or plate to prevent any paint bleeding underneath the stencil.

Paint over the open spaces of the stencil using a dabbing motion. Slowly build up the intensity of color with every layer of paint.

Once the stencil has been completely filled, carefully remove the stencil to reveal the final image and allow the paint to dry.

Heat seal the final design according to the directions of your fabric paint to prevent your design from fading.
