Summer has come and gone and now we’re starting to feel the cold chill. With the transition of the leaves color change, we’ve decided to add a taste of “autumn” to some home decor. We took some wooden trays and some leaf stencils to make this happen.

fall_tray_102717_09

The materials we used are brushes, paint, a plate for the paint, wooden trays, and some leaf stencils. The stencils we used are Leaf Silhouette 3 and Leaf Silhouette 5.

fall_tray_102717_01

Place your first stencil onto the tray in any position that you want.

fall_tray_102717_03

Dip your brush into some paint and wipe away the excess to prevent any bleeding. Paint over the open spaces of the stencil. Here we taped down the stencil so it does not shift during the painting process. After you have done this, carefully remove the stencil to reveal your leaf!

fall_tray_102717_04

After your first leaf has dried, place another leaf stencil onto the tray and do the same as prior. Add as many leaves that you desire!

fall_tray_102717_06

And there you have it!

fall_tray_102717_07

We decided to only stencil two leaves for a simple look. But you can always add to it, the more the merrier!

Things you will need: Denim jacket, fabric paint and paint brush, cardboard, tape, low-tack spray adhesive, pencil, paper towels, Stencil1 Moroccan Petal Repeat Pattern stencil.

Prepare your jacket for painting making sure the surface you are working on is flat and clean. Slip a piece of cardboard inside the jacket to prevent any paint from bleeding through to the other side.

stenciled_denim_jacket_072817_04

Grab your stencil and plan out how you would like to design your jacket. Stencil1 Repeat Pattern stencils are perfect for clothing as they are for walls. They come with registration marks to help with repeating the stencil design throughout your jacket.

stenciled_denim_jacket_072817_05

Place a small piece of tape underneath the registration marks and trace the mark with a pencil. Tape down the stencil onto the jacket to help keep the stencil in place while painting. Also, tape down any edges you do not want to paint for a clean finish.

With the fabric paint of your choice, load up your brush. Before you start painting, be sure to wipe off any excess paint on the edge of plate or a paper towel. Less is more! This method of dry brush painting will help prevent paint from going underneath the stencil.

stenciled_denim_jacket_072817_08

Start painting over the stencil using a dabbing motion. Slowly build up color intensity with every layer of paint. We chose to go light to achieve a washed look but feel free to add a second layer for a solid look.

Feel free to repeat this process all over your jacket! Just align the triangles on the stencil with the tape registration marks you created.

This Stencil1 Repeat Pattern stencil is made to be washable, reusable, and very durable. Be sure to allow time for your jacket to completely dry and follow heat-setting instructions according to your brand of fabric paint.

We’re finally back from the Stencil1 X Levi’s @ Anthropologie tour! For the past month, we’ve been traveling to the west coast and back with Levi’s visiting multiple Anthropologie stores and customizing special pieces for their customers.

walnut_creek_2

Customers were given a special promotion to purchase any Levi’s or Pilcro products and get $25 off their purchase, as well as Levi’s denim tote bag! They also had the opportunity to get their purchase or their denim tote customized by the Stencil1 team.

The customers got to choose designs from the Stencil1 collection, as well as designs we custom created for Anthropologie. Everyone had such creative and clever ideas! They enjoyed their specially made item just as much as we enjoyed making them.

Here are some pics from the event!

Stencil1 was approached by a marketing firm who was working with Clairol on promoting their Color Crave product, a color paste you can temporarily chang your hair color with.  They wanted to create a limited edition custom kit that included 5 of our stencil designs. We of course said YES! The hair artist also in the mix was the very talented Janine Ker (Instagram :  Janine_Ker_Hair) and we saw what Janine could do in the past with our stencils, so it was a DOUBLE YES.  Here’s what the kit looked like, who wants Clairol to make these available for sale?
