Stencil 101 Decor March Give-away!

Stencil101Decor_3D

With all the snow (and slush!) here in NY, I think it’s high time for some cheering up! To lighten your mood and keep money in your pocket,  I am giving away a copy of Stencil 101 Decor! Hmm, what shall the contest be?  I’d love to see some creative comments so how about tell me your favorite stencil image from the Stencil1 shop and why you like it so much and I tell ya what I’m gonna do, I’ll send you that stencil along with the Stencil 101 Decor book!  So for example, “I like the Ranchero because I like the cars that go boom”. You get the idea, so let’s hear it!

I Love the birch tree stencil. Birch trees have been my favorites since I was a kid and discovered the small cones they have. It wasn’t until later that I fell in love with their bark and how pretty they look when they first start getting their leaves in the spring.

  • marsha.

Only one favorite huh? That’s difficult! I’ll have to go with the boombox. Because it reminds me of days gone by and it’s such a cool stencil (even my husband loves it)!

  • Amy Kingsford

I agree…the hard part is choosing just one!!! Well…I absolutely love the “fancy phone” I don’t know I’m just feeling that glam vibe lately and it totally caught my eye!

  • Danyell

I love the birch trees. This is an everlasting symbol of beauty with growth and change. The simplicity of your design embodies strength, elegance, and peace.

  • Nikki

Hello! I’m so thankful to have found your site via Twitter! I have a copy of Stencil 101 (not the decor version) and it has totally inspired me. I love using your stencils as templates for felt appliques as well as art!

I cannot choose just one favorite so I have to share two… First I love the leaves stencil. This oddly cold and snowy winter in Texas has me appreciating being outside more than I ever imagined and I’m currently working on bringing the outdoors “in” throughout my home to prevent those cabin fever feelings!

Second, I just discovered your mini-frames stencils! How cool! Those could be used in so many ways!

  • Kina

I found this link via facebook from Vickie Howell! What an awesome idea! I love any natural scenes in stencil. I always need help in decorating!!!

  • shawna m.

I love the turntable stencil! My husband is a vinyl record nut! Collects all kinds of weird music, I don’t know how he finds it. I would love to make him something (maybe a bag to carry his records!) with these.

  • Nicole

I like the retro bus. My kids go crazy squealing when they see buses on the street. It’s actually a bit embarrassing but mostly funny. A bus stenciled on a shirt would be a big hit. Love all of your images!

  • Jaqueline

I love the antlered deer. I currently rent my house and so can’t nail anything into the walls. My boyfriend and I would love to have real antlers on our wall as decoration, so what better way to compromise by painting something on that can be easily removed by a new coat of magnolia paint?!

  • Alicia Gentz

This is tough. I had to go grab our copy, which was happily sitting underneath Pop Goes Crochet…I heart the turntable because it plays vinyl records and reminds me of my grandparents. I used to spend my summers as a kid in WI on their farm listening to old polka records….I just got back from NY, good luck w/all that snow, it was pretty awesome!

  • Jaclyn

The sparrow is my favorite, partly because my 2 year old loves birds so much! I was just glancing around trying to think of where I would use it, when I spied my ugly old washer and dryer. How cool would it be to stencil them!? I’ll would totally do it! Maybe even my fridge!

  • Lizz S.

Well you have just been bookmarked and added to my fav favorites. Mostly I’m a crafter/cardmakers, so your minis are a big hit with me. I need a drum set fory better half, a stiletto for dd, gas mask for nephew with stinky feet & “other releases”, and humming bird for myself. (A future order for sure). But in response to your question ….. The pine branch is my very favorite. What I plan to do with it is use it as a accent around my bedroom in a deeper shadow green than the base color. I may also add it to the bathroom and my craft room so glad to have found you.

Ps if Jennifer Perkins doesn’t have your deer, she should!

  • Nancy Lynn

I love your stencils and have your Stencil 101 book and would love a chance to win the new book as I use stencils a lot in making background papers and other things.

My choice would be the spray can…….Don’t get in my way………I might spray paint you too.

  • angie

I love all of them. i love to make all kinds of stuff. i have done shirts, and walls, and want to do more. just can afford them all. i don’t know if i am doing it right though. so i do need some help. i love the skulls, bus, wrestlers, trees, everything. we also like medi evil things also. i want to get new and wonderfull stencils that are different. it is very hard to make your own. and these are nice and different then the ones at the stores. thanks so much.

  • Maria

It’s really tough to pick one fav so I have to tell you about two.
My favorite image of winter is seeing a hawk sitting on the branch of a naked tree. No leaves, just branches and this amazing lone figure sitting high up top ….hunting. It’s beautiful and peaceful and It make me wonder what that hawk thinks about from up there…well besides food. Maybe he’s soaking in the splendor of the earth in winter, the barren ground beneath. For that reason, I love the birch tree and the bird stencils.

  • Terry Jackson

I love the hummingbird. I am fascinated by this bird and love watching them in my yard. We are getting ready to redo our back porch and I’m love to stencil hummingbirds in it.

  • Melissa Norris

I really love Blossoms. We’re buying our first house and I can’t wait to decorate my 4 year olds room. The blossoms would go great with her bedding!

Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  • Roberta

I’m a pattern gal…so I like the 8 tiny stencil/patterns :} Love the ape and airplane as well…so hard to choose. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  • Bee of the Bird

The font stencils are the cat’s pajamas. Typography has awesome creative potential, and while the graphic stencils are beautiful, the lettering really allows you to add your own dimension of unique expression. Personally, I like the clean Helvetica-style of the industrial font–simple and classic, with endless possibilities. Actually, as a grammar/typography nerd, I’d love to see more font stencil designs!

Years ago I got an allergy test and it turned out the only tree I was not allergic to was the Birch Tree, so GO BIRCH TREE! Stenciling is definitely in my future!!!

  • Christopher

I think La Calavera is my fav of the bunch! I imagine it could be used for humor or for horror, either way it is a ton of fun.

  • eug

I looooove sparrow Med 2 layers. One because it is a great image, and with two colors more visually complex. Two, my daughter’s name in Chinese is Sparrow. This would decorate her already sky blue and clouds on ceilinged room.

  • Barbara

The Airstream! I think they are so darn cute, and I have always entertained the idea of having one to park in my back yard and use it as a “guest cottage”.

  • Heartstomp

I love the antlered deer stencil because I need that rugged lumberjack look in my living room without having to have a dead stuffed head hanging from my wall.

  • Lisa

The birds mini stencil set is wonderful! What a hard decision to choose a fave. Thanks for the chance to win 🙂

  • Pat

My four year old granddaughter loves birds and nature themes, so I would choose the birds mini stencil set to decorate lots of things. These would be an ideal accent for my little nature lover!

  • Erin

I am in love with the Antlered Deer. My husband and I found an embroidery of an antlered deer at a thrift store for 10 cents before we were married and he has become the mascot of our marriage. We named him Buckley and since then, he has always had a place of honor in our home. All the stencils are great, but I keep getting drawn back to that Antlered Deer, all because of Buckley.

  • Paul

I appreciate the birch trees immensely. They remind me of childhood winters in Michigan, and the lovely calmness of walking through the first snow of the year.

  • JB Tucker

This is a toughie. It’s a tie between the bird silhouette and the chairs, but I’m gonna have to go with the chairs because they are so super-sweet. I want the rocking chair really bad.

I like ‘Traffic’ and have absolutely no idea why. I saw the image and immediately thought that I would really like to have a wall with traffic on it.

  • Billie

My favorite stencil is the scissors, not that it was easy to pick just one, but I like it so much bacause it represents my love for sewing and arts n crafts.
That and the bond that my daughter and I have developed over a very many, well organized, but not always well executed, crafting session.
Regardless of how the project turns out we always have so much fun and always learn something new, for next time.

    Thanks,
    Billie

WOW! So many wonderful comments! I am so pleased with all the fun, creative remarks and choosing one is so hard! I have to choose Nicole and her kids that love buses and squeal when they see them! This resonates with me as when I was a kid, I used to have a corvette screaming disease. I also picture the kids with the bus on their t-shirts, please Nicole, send us pictures! Well, congrats and thanks everyone! I will have more contests up in the near future!

I love the birds on the wires – it reminds me of drives up to grandma’s farm in the back seat of the old wood-panel station wagon through the countryside playing ‘eye spy’ with my sisters. Nostalgia for me!
