Brooklyn, New York – 2020— For immediate release – Stencil1 announced that it has released a new specialty line of stencils for makeup, Stencil1FX™

“I saw some really talented artists and customers using my stencils with body paint and makeup, and it inspired me to see this form of self expression,” says StencilFX™ designer Ed Roth. “We say that our stencils can be used on any surface and skin is no different. In fact, body painting is said to be human’s first art form. It’s ceremonial, spiritual, decorative. It’s using our tools and taking customization to the next level.”

StencilFX™ by Ed Roth is a new line of mylar stencils to be used anywhere on the face and body. It’s about creativity, dressing up or crafting a persona. “In the past, we’ve featured Stencil1 stencils to be used like tattoos,” Roth says, “but until now there hasn’t been anything dedicated specifically for face and body decoration with a splash of glam.”

Roth says that StencilFX™ is about bold colors, fantasy, no rules. “I wanted to hone in on the glam side of it,” he says. “The human form as the ultimate canvas. It’s alive—with shape, texture and movement.”

“As a fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Skin Wars as well as an Instagram and YouTube junkie,” Roth says, “I feel like I’ve been focusing on the techniques that those artists use, and as an artist, of course, I soak it up and want to try for myself. Stenciling the face and body is addictive, even if you are just doing it for yourself at home or for social media, creating effects on your face is a fun art. Also, living in Brooklyn, I have a wonderful circle of creative friends, many of whom do makeup for celebrities and editorial, they have inspired me greatly.” Roth also mentioned other influences such as coming of age in 80s club culture and being surrounded by the art of drag. “Growing up in the 80s, all my New Wave favorite artists like Boy George, Eurythmics, Grace Jones, they all painted for the gods, then coming out in the club kid era, I was swimming in inspiration at a young age.”

The collection is launching with 14 designs available in small batches. New designs will be added and some will be dropped off. All Stencil1FX™ stencils are currently made in the USA. Designs are available at Stencil1FX.com and in mid-August will also be on Target.com just in time for Halloween planning.

Sasha with her New Stencil1 Stencil Set

Announcing a wonderful collaboration, Stencil1 has partnered with the Sasha Project LA and made a new stencil set inspired by Sasha’s favorite images!

The Sasha Project LA and Ed Roth, designer and owner of Stencil1® today announced the release of a new set of stencils inspired by Sasha’s unique art style. Roth in collaboration with Sasha, created the stencil set with the purpose of not only sharing the mission of The Sasha Project LA, but also to motivate people of all ages to show their creative side by using these stencils to demonstrate how art can change their lives in different ways as it has for her.

Sasha was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and has found art to be the best way to improve the physical challenges of her CP. She was also born with a strong artistic talent and as soon as she discovered it when painting denim in her backyard, she and her mother thought of a way to give back to the community. Painting jeans started as a fun and highly therapeutic activity for Sasha – This is how The Sasha Project LA was created and Sasha started painting denim for a donation that later would be for the therapy art programs at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

This exclusive set of stencils are consistent with the imaginative and creative mind that Sasha possesses and will only be available for purchase on her website. The set includes a thunderbolt, a heart, a unicorn and a rainbow, each of them designed to create colorful artistic results. All of the stencils are washable and reusable and can be used on any surface including glass, concrete, wood, metal, paper, fabric and ceramic.

Proceeds collected by this collaboration will help thousands of patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where art programs take place. The CHLA Mark Taper-Johnny Mercer Artists program is designed for patients to express themselves through visual arts, music, dance and drama; giving Sasha and others the opportunity to keep healing through art.

Stencil1 was approached by a marketing firm who was working with Clairol on promoting their Color Crave product, a color paste you can temporarily chang your hair color with.  They wanted to create a limited edition custom kit that included 5 of our stencil designs. We of course said YES! The hair artist also in the mix was the very talented Janine Ker (Instagram :  Janine_Ker_Hair) and we saw what Janine could do in the past with our stencils, so it was a DOUBLE YES.  Here’s what the kit looked like, who wants Clairol to make these available for sale?
